At approximately 12:43 PM, the fire alarm went off in the Library. The staff members immediately went into action evacuating the patrons. The Blackstone Fire Department responded with an assist from the Woonsocket Fire Department. Chief Roy, Deputy Chief Gartland and all the crew members are phenomenal at their jobs. It was determined that a fan motor seized and burned. A very big thank you to the amazing work of the Blackstone Fire Department, Blackstone Police Department, Woonsocket Fire Department, Assistant Director Collier, the library staff members, Custodian Russell Marvelle, and the patience of the patrons. Your safety is our priority. The Library is open after a brief closure. There is a slight odor from the fan motor issue, but all is well. Lisa Cheever, Director
